A friend of mine and I are looking for Myles Burnyeat's much-cited but still unpublished paper "Carneades was no Probabilist" - who knows why it has never been published. If anyone happens to have an electronic version of it, please let me know.
I for one was trying to put my hands on it for some time. It turned out that Professor Burnyeat originally gave the paper at the Ancient Philosophy Colloquia at Princeton sometime in the 80’s – in fact, he is said to work on it just before the talk -, but then he never finished it, while others developed similar theses in print. If you manage to get a copy, please be so kind and share it with me.

ReplyDeleteSo far no luck. But I hope that eventually I'll get my hands on a copy.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for that piece of information, Máté.
Cheers
