Issue 12.1 of IJSS

The first issue of volume 12 (2022) of the International Journal for the Study of Skepticism has been published and can be found here. It is a special issue devoted to skepticism in India and edited by Ethan Mills and Matthew Dasti.

Porchat and Skepticism

The latest issue of the Brazilian journal Discurso is a special issue devoted to the thought of Oswaldo Porchat Pereira: “Ceticismo, Filosofia e História da Filosofia: Homenagem a Oswaldo Porchat.” At least eight of the articles deal with skepticism. The entire issue can be accessed for free here.

10th Anniversary Issue of IJSS

The latest issue of the International Journal for the Study of Skepticism is a double special issue that celebrates the 10th anniversary of the journal. It combines papers dealing with historical figures—Gorgias, Plato, Sextus Empiricus, and Isabelle de Charrière—with papers offering systematic discussions of issues in epistemology, ethics, and the philosophy of religion. Special Issue on Skepticism

The latest issue of the Serbian journal Belgrade Philosophical Annual is devoted to skepticism. It contains contributions by Annalisa Coliva, Michael Blome-Tillmann, Tim Kraft, Peter Murphy, and Živan Lazović. It can be accessed for free here or here.

Special Issue on Skepticism

A special issue on skepticism, edited by Jan Willem Wieland, has just been published in the Dutch journal Algemeen Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Wijsbegeerte (108/1, 2016). You can find the papers (all in Dutch) here. The translation of the title of my own paper, originally written in English, is “The Practical and Epistemic Value of Pyrrhonism.”

Issue 5.2 of IJSS

Issue 5.2 of the International Journal for the Study of Skepticism is now available online. It is a special issue on Ancient Skepticism, Voluntarism, and Science, edited by Anjan Chakravartty. Contributors include Richard Bett, Otávio Bueno, A. Chakravarty, Casey Perin, and Michael Williams. The papers can be found here.

Volume 4, Issue 3-4 of the International Journal for the Study of Skepticism is now out. It is a special issue devoted to Thompson Clarke and edited by Jean-Philippe Narboux. Check it out here.

Ethical Irrealism

The latest issue of Ratio is a special issue entitled "Irrealism in Ethics". I haven't been able to read it yet, but Richard Joyce and Hallvard Lillehammer usually write excellent things.

The New Atheism and Its Critics

The latest issue of Midwest Studies in Philosophy is devoted to the so-called "New Atheism". It features contributions by Gary Gutting, Richard Fumerton, and Jonathan Kvanvig, among several others. It's definitely a debate worth reading.

The Reception of Cicero's Academica

The latest issue of the French journal Astérion is devoted to the reception of Cicero's Academica in the modern age. The articles by Sylvia Giocanti, Stéphane Marchand, Christophe Grellard, Luiz Eva, and Sébastien Charles can be accessed for free here.

Elenchos Issue on Sextus

Volume 13 (1992) of the Italian journal Elenchos was devoted to the proceedings of the international conference "Sesto Empirico e la storia del pensiero antico," which took place in Rome in 1991. The good news is that this issue is now available for free here. (Thanks to Emidio Spinelli for the information.) I highly recommend that you read at least the articles by Annas, Decleva Caizzi, Ioppolo, and Sedley.

Special Issue of Synthese

The November issue of Synthese is devoted to skepticism and justification. The issue can be accessed for free here.

New Papers on Hume's Skepticism

Issue 52 (2011) of the Spanish journal Δαιμων. Revista Internacional de Filosofía is devoted to Hume. There are at least four papers dealing with his skepticism, among which is Chris Laursen's "David Hume on Custom and Habit and Living with Skepticism." The PDF files of this issue are not yet available on the journal's website, but you can take a look at the table of contents here.

The Problem of the Criterion

The special issue of Philosophical Papers devoted to the problem of the criterion has finally been published. As expected, most of the pieces deal with skepticism. The issue can be found here.

Philosophy East & West

A couple of months ago, and thanks to Richard Garner, I found out about a special issue on skepticism in the journal Philosophy East and West 27 (1977). Particularly interesting is Garner's “Skepticism, Ordinary Language, and Zen Buddhism.” The issue can be found here.
